New Delhi/Gurugram, 27 Nov 2018: India’s Tablet PC Market witnessed 6% growth in 3Q CY2018 compared to 2Q CY2018, according to CMR’s Tablet PC Market Report Review for 3Q 2018.

The tablet market currently is being dominated by Lenovo, Samsung, and iball.

“Lenovo continues to be on the first position in overall tablet market, and most of the tablet were 4G and 3G. Tab 4 series had the highest sale in 3Q 2018. Major deal of Lenovo is in education sector and financial services. The same deal continues to mature in the 3Q 2018”.

Samsung’s position has declined QoQ in the overall market because they have had the same strategy in the last few quarters. However, launching tablets with good features may give a little to boost to Samsung tablet’s market share.

The market for Datawind has been declining over the last couple of quarters. iball has grabbed 2nd position and is now competing with Samsung. iball has a good grip of the B2B market for the education sector in Meghalaya. In the retail market, iball has a good position in the Indian tablet market.

Apple iPad 6 Gen was launched in the last quarter and gave a boost to the overall tablet market as it gradually achieved 51% growth over the past quarter. Apple has done some good work in the tablet market. QoQ they are improving sales in Indian tablet market. iPad 6 Gen with its improved OS and renewed push into Education is ensuring better returns to the company.

Future Outlook
In the coming quarter, 4G market will grow to 60% of the overall tablet market. Among all technology segments, 4G will witness maximum traction in the coming quarter. 6-7 key players will dominate the overall tablet market and the retail market may see some shrinking of its overall market share because the B2B market will continue to grow.

Tablet vendors should focus on adding new features based on new technologies along with lower prices and better marketing. The tablet market should also focus on enhancing their gaming features because the mobile industry already has good performance in the Indian market in gaming. Mobiles have a better market share, but if tablets are available with better gaming features in the same or lower price bands, then there can be steady growth in this market.
