Gurugram, 24 June 2025. A new study by CyberMedia Research (CMR) reveals that two in three Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India are digitally equipped—ranging from core technologies like ERP, CRM, and cloud platforms to advanced technologies including AI, IoT, and data analytics. This signals a maturing digital ecosystem among Indian MSMEs. While Indian MSMEs are increasingly leveraging technology to enhance business outcomes, many continue to face structural challenges—including high implementation costs, limited awareness of solutions, and gaps in digital skills.

Here are some key ecosystem insights from the CMR study:

  • 62% actively seek digital advisory services—through MSME-focused online communities, forums, and professional networks.
  • 43% of MSMEs report proficiency in core digital tools, including cloud computing, ERP, and CRM platforms.
  • 23% have moved up the digital value chain, adopting more advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, and analytics.
  • 59% rely on platforms like LinkedIn, X, and WhatsApp for business news, peer learning, and industry updates.
  • The biggest barriers to scaling digital adoption for digitally hesitant MSMEs include a lack of clarity on the value and relevance of available digital solutions (84%), apprehensions around data security (81%) and limited proficiency in advanced technologies (56%).

As MSMEs navigate increasingly complex digital landscape, trusted advisory support has emerged as a key enabler. As per the study insights, >70% of digitally aware MSMEs actively seek digital advisory guidance. Notably, more than 1 in 2 MSMEs recognize Vi Business’s Ready for Next (RFN) program as a primary digital advisory touchpoint.

Commenting on the study findings, Prabhu Ram, VP- Industry Research Group (IRG), CyberMedia Research (CMR), “India’s digital momentum is being reshaped by a growing base of MSMEs adopting technology to drive competitiveness and innovation. While the signs of digital maturity are promising, there remains a sizeable segment that faces persistent barriers—especially around awareness, skills and cybersecurity. MSMEs are increasingly turning to structured, accessible trusted advisory platforms to bridge this gap. In this context, programs such as Vi Business’s #ReadyForNext Program are being acknowledged by a notable share of MSMEs for their role in guiding digital adoption.”

To evaluate the MSME digital advisory platform landscape, CMR undertook a rigorous qualitative and quantitative assessment across a broad set of dimensions—spanning, but not limited to, platform scale and MSME digital maturity, breadth and relevance of service offerings, and quality of user engagement and support.

Within this framework, Vi Business’s #ReadyForNext (RFN) Program emerged as India’s most widely recognized and trusted digital advisory platform. 57% MSMEs recognize #ReadyForNext program for having the largest and most comprehensive range of digital services. An overwhelming >80% MSMEs under #ReadyForNext program report digital fluency across core and advanced digital capabilities.

Among MSMEs that have engaged with the Vi Business #ReadyForNext advisory:

  • 64% MSMEs report overall satisfaction with #ReadyForNext’s digital advisory services, citing ease of access, responsiveness, and relevance of guidance.
  • Over 80% express high satisfaction with the platform’s technical support and personalized consultations.
  • 62% experienced noticeable improvements in business connectivity, leading to a range of tangible benefits:
    • 37% report improved and faster decision-making, driven by better access to real-time insights.
    • 33% experienced business growth, including broader market reach or increased revenue.
    • 33% cited gains in operational efficiency, such as smoother workflows and reduced manual processes.
  • 65% of users indicated a willingness to recommend the platform to peers—suggesting strong perceived value and trust in the service.

“These results echo a larger industry need for affordable, high-impact advisory mechanisms that can democratize digital transformation for MSMEs,” added Prabhu.
