Gurugram/New Delhi, December 03, 2025: India’s consumer storage market is regaining strong momentum. According to CyberMedia Research’s (CMR) latest India Consumer Storage Flash Devices Market Review Report for Q3 2025, shipments of consumer storage devices—including MicroSD cards, SD cards, and USB flash drives—grew 44% year-on-year (YoY), alongside a steady 5% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase.
“USB pen drives are powering this resurgence, commanding a dominant 75% market share and posting 66% YoY growth,” said Mukesh Sharma, Senior Analyst, Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR. “The current trends show a clear shift toward easy, portable storage, with pen drives leading the momentum as consumers look for simple, plug-and-use options. In contrast, traditional removable formats are moving into more specialized roles, driven by focused needs like imaging, surveillance, and device-specific applications.”.

While pen drives lead the momentum, removable flash formats are witnessing steady, use-case-driven growth rather than broad-based expansion.
- Micro SD card shipments surge by 12% QoQ, with demand now concentrated in specialized use cases, such as drones, action cameras, and surveillance devices, rather than mainstream smartphone storage.
- SD card shipments rise by 44% QoQ, storage in everyday devices.
“Overall, the market reflects a steady revival driven by practical user needs, evolving device ecosystems, and strong festive-season sales. Dealers and distributors are also proactively building inventory in anticipation of upcoming price fluctuations.” Sharma observed.
