The enterprise solutions landscape is evolving, with platforms emerging to democratize software creation. One such platform is Twasta, developed by Proteus Technologies, an experienced provider in the industry. The platform leverages Artificial Intelligence to allow users—including business personnel without deep technical backgrounds—to create custom, production-ready enterprise applications. This approach aims to significantly reduce the time required by traditional development methods by combining AI-generated code with human oversight to maintain high standards for security, scalability, and integration.
In a competitive landscape where businesses prioritize rapid digital transformation, the challenge of enabling non-technical users to build complex enterprise software remains pertinent. To explore how AI is addressing this gap, CMR engaged with Nilay Sharma, Director of Proteus Technologies. The discussion focuses on how platforms like Twasta are changing the development process by empowering citizen developers to create enterprise-grade applications, aiming to reduce development time while ensuring robust performance.
Q1. The promise of citizen development is compelling, but how realistic is it that non-technical users can actually build production-ready applications with current platforms?
The answer is a “Yes and a No.” Current no-code tools excel at CRUD applications—forms, data storage, and basic analytics. However, they often fail to address real-world enterprise needs, specifically integration. Enterprises despise data silos and fragmented data; they need unified workflows. That is why Twasta includes a built-in integration module and powerful APIs to enable connectivity with other systems.
Q2. Maintenance and bug fixes are often cited as major hurdles for citizen developers. What is your take on this?
It is absolutely a hurdle. When things break, troubleshooting can be a struggle because citizen developers often lack the technical skills required to debug and maintain what they have built.
We leverage AI to dramatically accelerate development, seeing applications built in as little as 1/10th the time of traditional methods. On Twasta, business users describe their requirements in plain English. The platform then utilizes its intelligence repository to generate detailed requirement specifications, a prototype screen, and a database schema. The user iteratively refines this prototype until satisfied.
Q3. Since the code is generated by AI, how do you ensure it is robust and meets enterprise standards?
That is the crucial piece. While the AI generates the application code, the Twasta team meticulously reviews it to ensure it meets expectations.
Our strength is the enterprise platform on which all applications built on “Twasta” are deployed. This is the same platform that runs our SaaS ERP solution and comes with over 100+ plugin features
We focus on critical features like workflows, audit trails, access management, rights control, scalability, and built-in analytics.
The platform ensures the app aligns with the high standards enterprises demand.
Q4. Looking ahead, what is the biggest change you foresee in this space?
The future is greater autonomy. We aim to reduce the need for manual code reviews over time. We are also introducing standard templates—like CRM modules—that allow business users to build applications effortlessly using simple prompts. This flexibility will make development faster, intuitive, and truly democratized.
