Five years ago, that sentence wouldn’t have been possible.
Delighted to have advised Panthera Growth Partners on its $30M Series B round + secondary investment in Innefu Labs, one of India’s leading AI companies building multi-modal fusion systems for defense, intelligence, and law enforcement.
A few things this deal tells you about where Indian dealmaking is heading.
Defense and intelligence tech, long considered too sensitive for foreign capital, is now actively investable. Policy shifts, procurement scale and genuinely world-class Indian engineering talent have opened a sector that was effectively closed a decade ago.
Singapore is becoming the most natural gateway for Asian capital into Indian dual-use technology the regulatory comfort and cross-border familiarity make it the right structuring jurisdiction. The primary + secondary structure is quietly becoming the norm in Indian growth rounds. Founders want partial liquidity, funds want meaningful primary exposure. Pure primary rounds are the exception now. Indian AI in defense and sovereign-use cases will be one of the defining PE themes of the next five years.

The National Strategic Knowledge Grid
The immediate practical innovation required is a National Strategic Knowledge Grid (NSKG). This unified digital platform would index all #strategic #publications in India, assign #standardised #author identifiers, and #track #citations. Currently, a researcher at the Defence Services Staff College lacks a #systematic way to determine whether a scholar at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) has explored their topic.
The NSKG solves this through centralisation. Every publication receives a #Strategic #Author #ID.

The India Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act is fundamentally changing how data fiduciaries must operate. It’s not enough to get consent—Section 8 mandates Accountability, requiring immutable, cryptographic proof that consent was acquired correctly and that withdrawal requests are executed instantly.
We just completed a deep dive on how to build the required DPDP Audit Trail: a cryptographically secure, “Blockchain-lite” architecture that turns compliance into a measurable, defensible asset.
The Technical Solution:
Immutable Logs (WORM): Every “Consent Artifact” is a structured JSON event, cryptographically chained using SHA-256 to the previous one. This ensures WORM (Write-Once-Read-Many) storage, making the logs tamper-proof.
Real-Time Linkability: Consent withdrawal (Revoke) is instantly logged and propagated via a Message Queue (like Kafka) to trigger real-time changes across all integrated systems (DBs, CRMs, Data Lakes).
DSR Automation: The Audit Trail acts as the Source of Truth and the map. It automates Data Subject Rights (DSRs) from query (“Discovery”) to final “DELETION_CONFIRMED” event.
This transition from messy, siloed logs to a unified, verifiable Audit Service is the future of data governance. It minimizes risk, maximizes performance, and provides the DPO with the real-time visibility they need.
Why this matters: Legal compliance is now a performance metric. We built this to be defensible in court and scalable for millions of events.

The RBI auditor gave them 30 days.
Their NAC had been in “monitor mode” for 14 months.

The CISO knew it was a problem. His team knew it was a problem.
But monitor mode was comfortable. No enforcement meant no helpdesk tickets. No complaints from users. No late-night calls about blocked devices.
Until the auditor wrote three words in the findings report:
“Non-enforcing access control.”
Suddenly 30 days to move from monitor to enforcement across 2,000+ endpoints.
Here’s what saved them:
They didn’t try to enforce everything at once.
Week 1: Enforced on server VLANs only (highest risk, fewest devices, smallest blast radius).
Week 2: Added corporate laptops with certificate-based auth.
Week 3: BYOD and contractor devices with profiling + limited access.
Week 4: IoT and unmanaged devices — quarantine VLAN with explicit allow-list.
By day 28, enforcement was live across the network.
The auditor’s follow-up found zero open findings.

The lesson isn’t “hire a consultant when the auditor shows up.”
The lesson is: enforcement doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing.
Phased rollout. Highest risk first. Smallest blast radius. Expand when stable.

Cybersecurity agencies are warning of a growing fraud technique involving OTP forwarding through malicious APK files hosted outside the country, posing serious risks to mobile banking and digital payment users.
In this attack, victims are tricked into downloading an Android application from unofficial links shared via SMS, WhatsApp, email, or fake customer-support calls.
