When users interact with an LLM, data is typically handled in two ways.
First, through the context window, where information is temporarily used during a conversation and can be deleted when the session ends.
Second, data may be incorporated into training datasets that help shape the model’s behaviour over time.
For chat histories, stored files, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) databases, deletion is relatively straightforward.
Organizations can remove records, delete documents, and prevent future access.

Today the publishing industry of #AI met with unexpected reality and it got exposed for operating like a fast food outlet.
#NeurIPS one of the reputed conferences in AI rejected highly ranked papers based on physical space constraints of the conference venue.
Efforts of many authors and reviewers, ACs etc. went down in the drain because someone didn’t figure this small logistics detail earlier. I see a lot of people on LinkedIn getting angry and the truth is most of these papers will find publication venue within next 4 months if not earlier, but the real question is,
Which scientific field has a similar turnover ratio? Which field of research normalizes peer review publication after two-three or max six months of effort? What is a publication worth? or we assume that 10 out of these thousands will stand the test of time and others will just die.
This conference alone selects thousands of papers. Most reviewers reviewing 5 papers at least, this is just one conference. There are many in this domain #cvpr, #iccv #icml etc etc.
How can we assure high quality work in such crazy timelines?
I meet Phd students with 6-7 co-authored papers in a single year and most of my colleagues from computer science are not even surprised. They say now many PhD applicants already have 2-3 papers in high impact conference during masters. Is this real? Why do such student even need a phd? Bar is dropping or suddenly we are overwhelmed with great ideas in this particular field?
Computer science needs introspection about the process, should academic research be done with such haste? what is the overall quality of thousands of papers published every year and how is it worth it?
