Santosh Pandey, Director GM, Dell Cloud Client Computing

As the need arises to go small and do big out of technology, VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) can play a crucial role in curtailing cost and saving time.

The changing digital era comes with its own set of challenges such as the workforce undergoing a transformation, the need to access a lot of devices, compliance mandates, security threats and spiraling costs.

A significant amount of resources are required for managing endpoint applications and in today’s world curtailing costs and securing network tend to be major concerns for any organisation. Apparently, the rising dependency on multiple vendors and producing everything in real time calls for one size fits all solutions.

VDI is the way to go

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) can play a crucial role and provide answers to all the above concerns of an organisation. It can help in simplified management, security and compliance and in offering consistent user experience.

VDI actually hosts a virtual machine (VM) running on a centralised server and then the desktop images can be used by various devices such as desktop, laptops, thin clients and mobile devices. VDI consolidates and centralises the desktops and as a result, enable customers to align and streamline management.

• It can help in taming the overall costs of each desktop –CAPEX as well as OPEX.
• Virtualization can also help in curtailing cost by 50%.
• It can secure endpoints.

And so organisations which are really looking to create a disruptive moment, VDI is the way to go.
