India to have most affordable 5G rates, Said Mukesh Ambani on IMC 2022

India entered a new age of technology with Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching the 5G Telecom services at the Indian Mobile congress 2022 in Delhi on 1st Oct. The 5G services will not only provide seamless coverage, high data rate, and low latency, but they will also power the moonshot technologies like augmented reality, edge computing, etc.

Top telecom industry veterans, including Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, Bharti Enterprises’ founder-chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, and Aditya Birla Group’s chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla attended the IMC event.

Mukesh Ambani says, ‘Jio will launch 5G across the country by Dec 2023.’

Mukesh Ambani unfolded his plans for 5G network establishment around the country at the event. He said they are launching the 5G services for 13 Cities only as of now. He also confirmed that Reliance Jio is eyeing to launch 5G services across the country by December 2023. “Jio will launch affordable 5G services and cover every nook and corner of the country by December 2023”, he added.

Ambani emphasized saying, “5G is much more than the next generation of connectivity technology. To my mind, it’s a foundational technology that unlocks the full potential of other 21st century technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of things, Robotics, Blockchain & Metaverse.”

Various kiosks were set up by different telecom operators and technology providers to get a first-hand experience of what 5G technology can do. Reliance Jio surprised everyone by showcasing their “True 5G device concept” and “Jio Glass technology.”

On the same note, Mukesh Ambani asserted, “Very proud of what we have demonstrated. To COAI (Cellular Operators Assn of India) & DoT (Dept of Telecom), I can say we are ready to take leadership and Indian Mobile Congress should now become Asian Mobile Congress & Global Mobile Congress.”

Role of BSNL

Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani was one of the few who mentioned the important role of BSNL, which must be played in the Indian 5G era. He said, “A strong BSNL will bring the balancing presence of government entities in this very strategic sector.” “The industry will ensure that the country will have the highest quality and the most affordable rates than anyone else in the world,” he added.

5G cannot remain an exclusive service available to the privileged few or those in our largest cities. It must be available to every citizen, every home, and every business across India. Only then can we dramatically increase productivity, earnings, and living standards across our entire economy, thereby creating a prosperous and inclusive society in our country,” he concluded.

Next Steps

Later on 4th Oct, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited head Akash Ambani unveiled Jio’s plan to initialize a beta trial for 5G. “Reliance will roll out the Jio True 5G tomorrow on Dussehra in four cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Varanasi. It’s an invitation-only offer, adding users will get unlimited 5G data with up to 1 gbps+ speed,” Jio added.

“Our Prime Minister has given a clarion call for accelerated roll-out of 5G across India to realize the full potential of a Digital India. In response, Jio has prepared an ambitious and the fastest ever 5G roll-out plan for a country of our size,” Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, said in the statement.

“By embracing 5G, Jio will create nation-first platforms and solutions that will transform skill development, education, healthcare, agriculture, and many such sectors, with the promise of enabling a better life for every Indian,” Mr. Ambani emphasized.
