Future Outlook
The demand for high-capacity drives is expected to sustain HDD market growth, with a projected single-digit YoY increase by the end of 2025.
“The demand for high-capacity drives will remain a key driver of HDD market growth, with a projected single-digit YoY increase by the end of 2025. However, External and Surveillance HDDs will follow distinct growth trajectories. External HDDs will continue to see steady demand, driven by increasing personal and professional data storage needs, particularly for high-resolution media, remote work, and data backup—despite rising competition from SSDs and cloud storage. In contrast, Surveillance HDDs will witness stronger momentum, fueled by the rapid expansion of security systems, smart city initiatives, and higher-resolution video surveillance. Moving forward, technological advancements in both segments will prioritize greater capacity, speed, and reliability to align with evolving market demands,” added Preet Kaur, Analyst – Industry Intelligence Group at CyberMedia Research (CMR).
