New Delhi/Gurugram, 27 Aug 2026: According to CyberMedia Research (CMR)’s India Tablet PC Market Review for H1 2026, India’s tablet market grew 15% year-on-year, driven by strong premiumization and steady demand across the consumer, education, and enterprise sectors.

The standout trend of the period was the rapid expansion of the premium category. Premium tablets priced at (>INR 20,000) grew 74% YoY and accounted for 89% of the market, underscoring rising demand for devices offering stronger performance, larger displays, and enhanced productivity.

Within the premium segment, Apple continued to strengthen its leadership. The Apple iPad 11 series alone accounted for nearly 23% of overall premium tablet shipments in India, while the newly launched Apple iPad Air 2026 series added a further 3% share.

Samsung led the overall market with a 34% share, followed by Apple at 29% and Lenovo at 17%.

According to Menka Kumari, Senior Analyst, CyberMedia Research (CMR), “The Indian tablet landscape is maturing, marked by a decisive shift toward higher-spec devices. Rising component costs, alongside consumer preference for larger screens, increased RAM, and robust Wi-Fi connectivity, are pushing average selling prices higher. Even as overall volume growth moderates, tablets remain deeply entrenched as companion devices for content creation, education, and enterprise productivity.”.

Large-screen tablets above 10 inches accounted for nearly 91% of shipments, reflecting growing preference for bigger displays to support learning, entertainment, and multitasking.

Wi-Fi tablet shipments grew 30% YoY, while 5G tablets increased 8% and 4G shipments declined 19%. Demand also shifted toward higher-performance configurations, with 6GB tablets growing 73% and 12GB variants surging 422%.

Market Dynamics in H1 2026

  • Samsung retained leadership with a 34% market share, growing 30% YoY, supported by strong Galaxy A-series and S-series performance, an expanded premium portfolio, attractive financing offers, and robust enterprise and institutional demand.
  • Apple captured 29% share, delivering 28% YoY growth, driven by the continued success of the iPad 11 series — which contributed 72% of Apple’s shipments — supported by strong premium demand and growing preference for productivity-focused tablets.
  • Lenovo secured 17% market share, posting strong double-digit growth across consumer, education, and enterprise segments.
  • Xiaomi maintained an 11% market share despite a 20% YoY decline. The newly launched Pad 8 and Redmi Pad 2 Pro gained strong traction, together accounting for 47% of Xiaomi’s H1 2026 shipments.
  • Realme accounted for 3% share, growing 10% YoY — a sign of positive momentum despite its smaller market position.

Market Outlook

CMR forecasts the Indian tablet market to decline 10-12% in CY2026, as higher component costs, memory supply constraints, and uncertainty around institutional procurement weigh on performance during the remainder of the year.

“Supply-side pressures, including rising component costs, memory shortages, and delays in institutional procurement, are expected to impact shipments in H2 2026, though premium devices and AI-ready hardware will continue to anchor market value,” Menka added.
